How many pillows are too many?

Nothing is more tempting or decadent than resting on a bed of cushions.

You can never have too many décor pillows

Anyone who pampers their interior can attest to the difficulty of finding the right assembly of throw pillows; the perfect combination does not exist. But, having done your best, it is a great satisfaction to be able to savor a moment of relaxation on your sofa, chair, or bed and appreciate your new décor.

Decorative pillows give a personal touch while adding a warm feeling to the entire room. They can be changed and mixed more easily and inexpensively than furniture, while providing more life and avoiding monotony.

Many arrangements are possible, but the classic combinations are:

  • Sofa: a long lumbar cushion and two square cushions on each side;
  • Club chairs: a lumbar cushion on the seat horizontally filling the space from one arm to the other;
  • Bed: In addition to the sleeping pillows, you can add two, three, or four euro style square decorative pillows, which are smaller than sleeping pillows, and finish with a lumbar cushion.

Consider fewer pillows for sleeping

The average person sleeps with 2.2 pillows, according to a poll by the National Sleep Foundation. Surprisingly, more than a fourth of the respondents said they use at least three pillows. The purpose of a pillow is to keep your neck aligned with your spine, and a quality single pillow, correctly positioned, should be enough. Sleeping surrounded by excess pillows is therefore not recommended. Sleeping without a pillow could put a strain on your neck, shoulders, or lower back, and a pillow that is too soft can strain your neck muscles and even decrease the blood flow to your head. So, finding the right pillow is essential to a good night’s sleep.

Even though many people obviously sleep with multiple bed pillows, the generally recommended number is just one for the head, or two for side sleepers. In addition, a good way to align your spine is to have one pillow under your head and one between your knees. Two pillows combined like this can help keep your spine and neck aligned. If you are feeling the need to add more, chances are the pillow you are using isn’t the right one for you.

The Intelli-Pedic FlexSupport 3 in 1 pillow responds very well to the demand for a good quality multi-position pillow that is made in the USA. It is the specific pillow that we recommend if you do not know which one to choose.
